Vintage Photograph – 2014.2

1930s woman santa fe

1930s Woman in Santa Fe, NM For Throwback Thursday we present a stylish desert woman from the 1930s. This photo was found at a local antique mall. We love how her dress is blowing in the New Mexico wind. The back of the photo is stamped “Lamme Photo Co. Santa Fe, N.M.” Behind her you can see a hand-built adobe wall, which is a common sight in New Mexico. And on her wrist a hand stamped silver bracelet which seems […]

Vintage Photograph – 2014.1

1940s vintage woman

This is beginning of what we hope will be a regular blog post every Thursday for Throwback Thursday (#tbt). The hope is to shine light on discarded vintage photographs of women. The images will have all been found photos, scanned and shared online for (most likely) the first time. 1940s Beauty Isn’t she beautiful? She was recently found in an Albuquerque antique mall. How to Throw a Great Gatsby Party, Part 2

The Rumble at Marble Brewery

Food Truck Rumble - Tears

Last Wednesday Sweet Jubilee dug out our glad rags, okay maybe ours are not so buried, to be part of Inhabitants of Burque’s Food Truck Rumble hosted at Marble Brewery. The theme of the rumble was 1920s/1930s. A live jazz band, Zoltan the Incredible and His Royal Two Man Pirate Circus Band, four local food trucks throwing it down by each serving an incredible meal paired with a brew by Marble, a fun photo booth (see us in the booth), us […]

Art Deco Ready

You'll definitely want to see our "fan" dance!

We are a very short two days away from our next performance, and if you follow us on Facebook there’s a good chance you’ve seen how much we’ve been promoting the event! We are so exciting we are dancing right out of our t-strap shoes! We have been feverishly sewing costumes, researching Art Deco hair, makeup, and fashion, and of course practicing our lovely dance moves. This past Sunday we had our first dress rehearsal. Seeing everything come together that […]

Holidays are upon us!

Strutting down Central

Nob Hill Shop and Stroll marked the unveiling of two new routines for the Sweet Jubilee girls: a holiday-inspired Shim Sham/Tranky Doo mash-up to Jingle Bells (just wait—we’re working on a version with hip-height candy canes!) and the Albuquerque debut of “All I Do,” a recreation of the choreography originally performed by Debbie Reynolds in “Singin’ in the Rain.” We also reprised a crowd favorite Charleston from earlier this fall, Muskrat Ramble. After the performance, some of us girls took […]
