What is Zero to 60?

zero_2_60

A fundraiser! Motivation to improve your dancing! Fun performances to watch! Dancing on a team or working on choreography are some of the best ways to improve your dancing. But it is challenging to come up with a whole song of choreography, hard to get everyone to rehearse, and intimidating to perform! We get it. ZERO to 60 is here to help you get over the jitters. Step 1: Create a routine up to 60 seconds (max!). Solo jazz, lindy […]

Busy Sweet Jubilee Bees!

IMG_5734

ALL I DO, ALL I DO, ALL I DO, ALL I DO… Whew we’ve been busy! We’ve had two gigs in the past two days. For the first of those, we performed All I Do seven times within approximately two hours! Albuquerque has been oddly warm for January for most the month, but wouldn’t you know the first morning of our performance days, it snowed, and snowed! Now for Albuquerque that means a nice dusting, which is just fine with us. […]

New Years Eve and A LOT of Balloons!

DSCF1844a

We had an absolute blast performing at the Palace Restaurant & Saloon for New Years Eve! We even debuted a new routine that we just adore. Our grand finale and new routine was a balloon burlesque number. Eva chose the song Singing in the Rain for this number and we were dressed as rain clouds. (Balloons = Clouds, get it?) With only a few weeks to learn and polish this number, the three of us (that were in town) worked […]

Manhattan_3

It’s ABQLX weekend! Do you know what that means (to us)? Time to debut some new routines! And dance our legs off at the annual lindy hop event for three days! Here’s what we have prepped for tonight and tomorrow. Can Can To choreograph and do a group Can Can routine has been on our to do list since Sweet Jubilee began. The routine was started sometime during the summer, but being summer and a time we’re often out of […]

Vintage Photograph 2014.28 – 1940s Dancers

1940s dancers

1940s Dancers After a few weeks of end-of-summer hiatus we’re back to dancing this week! We can’t wait! This photo of a group of dancers from the 1940s seemed appropriate for today’s Throwback Thursday. There are some names on the back but I have to admit I can’t decipher the handwriting. We’re happy to be back and working on new routines! Wish us luck as we get back into dancer shape and work on some high kicks and fast dance […]

Vintage Photograph 2014.27 – 1945 Cowgirls

1945 cowgirls

1945 Cowgirls Six lovely ladies in their western wear sit perched on a fence in today’s Throwback Thursday photograph. Their plaid shirts, hats, and high waisted jeans make these ladies look like they mean business on the ranch. One lady is wearing saddle shoes though, which makes me wonder if this was just a weekend trip to a ranch for this group of friends or if that one lady was just out of place. Overall this photograph just makes me […]

Manhattan – TV Series

Manhattan-Cast-Image_Final__140515163404

Manhattan is a new TV series that airs this Sunday (July 27, 2014) on WGN America. It was filmed in Santa Fe, NM, just one hour north of Albuquerque. Set in Los Alamos, NM, in 1943, the show tells the story of the people behind New Mexico’s involvement in the building of the first atomic bomb and the secrets they had to keep – from everyone. Set in Los Alamos, N.M., at the Manhattan Project during the race to build the world’s first […]

1940s picnic

1940s Picnic This has to be one of my favorite vintage photographs found thus far. The scan here does not do the print justice. The composition and the natural light are just stunning. I would guess who ever took this photo was pretty skilled with the camera. So now let’s look at the photo a little closer. The woman on the left has her hair tied up and appears to be wearing a playsuit. If you look really closely at their […]

1940s bathing palm

1940S Bathing Beauty with Palm Tree Bathing Suit This lovely palm tree lady is our Throwback Thursday snapshot of the day on this hot hot week. My mother found this vintage photograph in an antique mall and I’ve been saving it for a prime time summer appearance. We have no clues as to her location, but who cares! We’re highly distracted by her marvelous palm tree bathing suit! I mean how amazing is it?! I believe I may have found a […]
