Sundays, 5:15-6:30pm, Back Door Studio, $5 Sweet Jubilee will be revisiting some classic solo jazz choreography: Shim Sham (multiple variations), Tranky Doo, The Big Apple – and we’re opening it up to anyone who wants to attend! Our pace and teaching will be geared to intermediate+ dancers rather than beginners, but everyone is welcome! We will work not just on “the moves” but also polishing and working on the quality of movement and transitions that are true to the vernacular […]
SJ was involved in a super fun project with Sister Kate (Seattle) and the Rhythm Belles (Bellingham). We think it turned out great!
Our new project reflects our love of jazz dance, autumn in New Mexico, the Rio Grande river, public parks, and collaboration. After some initial hiccoughs (the choreographer’s appendix burst right before we were supposed to start rehearsing!), and scheduling nightmares, we made it happen! We hope you enjoy the result! If you’d like to support us, we always appreciate financial support that goes towards rehearsal space, costumes, and snacks for our all-volunteer group!

We’re so excited to be in the final stretch towards our first show. We’ve been rehearsing for months, making costumes, writing the script, and all the other little details, all for 4 shows in December! Come see us!
You might have noticed that we haven’t been performing as frequently as usual lately, and it’s for a good reason! We are building our first original, full-length show, Alice in Jazzland! Performances coming in November and we’ll provide more details as we get closer! We had a great photo shoot with SJ Alum Morgan Petroski Hjelm to get some publicity photos at the beautiful Albuquerque Botanic Gardens. Here’s our favorite shot of “The Mad Hatters Tea Party”
First: Thank you SO MUCH for supporting our year-long Zero to 60 project! We raised a total of $1398.85 simply from pocket change and our partnership with Rio Grande Jazz Society! Though NM is 43rd poorest state in the nation, we have proven that dedicated people can make a difference! Our performers chose a range of causes, from personal connections, to local, regional, and international causes. Please check out these great organizations and get involved or donate! Albuquerque Aquarium – […]
A big motivation for Zero to 60 was to get more people to try out performing as a way to build confidence and improve dancing. Success! We have had a mix of seasoned performers and new performers! Great job everyone and keep it up! We opened up rehearsal to anyone and have several people try out new roles – social dancers trying out solo dancing, leads following and vice versa, etc. We have keep Sweet Jubilee as a women’s team […]

A fundraiser! Motivation to improve your dancing! Fun performances to watch! Dancing on a team or working on choreography are some of the best ways to improve your dancing. But it is challenging to come up with a whole song of choreography, hard to get everyone to rehearse, and intimidating to perform! We get it. ZERO to 60 is here to help you get over the jitters. Step 1: Create a routine up to 60 seconds (max!). Solo jazz, lindy […]

ALL I DO, ALL I DO, ALL I DO, ALL I DO… Whew we’ve been busy! We’ve had two gigs in the past two days. For the first of those, we performed All I Do seven times within approximately two hours! Albuquerque has been oddly warm for January for most the month, but wouldn’t you know the first morning of our performance days, it snowed, and snowed! Now for Albuquerque that means a nice dusting, which is just fine with us. […]
